Cavity Wall Insulation
Why Insulate your Cavity?
You could be losing up to 35% of your heat through your walls and according to the Energy Savings Trust paying an extra £115 towards your yearly utility bills as a result.
Grants Available
Grants are provided by the Government through energy companies, and are available to all homeowners throughout the uk. Westville Insulation can access this funding directly to minimise the cost of your cavity wall insulation. Contact us to find out if you qualify.
The Process
We use a number of product types that are all classed as mineral wool and carry a full insurance backed 25 year guarantee. They also are fully compliant with all the latest safety regulations. So you can have peace of mind that the best and safest products are helping you to reduce costs and help the environment.
A survey is carried out prior to installation by our own team of surveyors, to ascertain the suitability of the building for the insulation and to determine the position of flues, air vents etc. Essential ventilation openings such as those providing combustion air or under floor ventilation, and all flues in the cavity wall are checked and sleeved, or otherwise modified to prevent blockage by the insulant. At the same time they will advise you on what grants you can claim and start the process of doing this on your behalf.
Approved Cavity Barrier
An approved cavity barrier is inserted as appropriate to isolate terraced or semi-detached properties and to close any open cavities. A series of 22mm diameter holes are drilled in the mortar joints in accordance with the patterns detailed by the BBA Certificate. |
Hole Drilled
For new build schemes, the holes are usually drilled through the inner leaf and the insulant installed prior to plastering. For existing buildings, holes are usually drilled through the mortar joints in the outer leaf and are made good by repointing with mortar to match the wall finish. |
Injected into the Cavity
Supafil Cavity Wall Insulation is fed into a approved blowing machine and injected into the cavity under air pressure through a flexible hose fitted with a tapered nozzle. |
Pressure Sensor
The machine is fitted with a pressure sensor which automatically cuts off to stop the flow of material when the area of the wall being insulated is completely filled to the correct density. Vents, flues etc., are checked to ensure they are free from blockage. |
