Company Backs New Government ECO Plan

Nottinghamshire Firm Helps Homes Become Energy Efficient

A company from Nottinghamshire has stepped forward to answer a new Government call to boost energy efficiency for all homes.

The new £350 million Community Energy Savings Programme encourages energy companies to work with local councils to promote energy efficiency measures, particularly in deprived areas

Westville Limited is based in a coal field regeneration area in Shirebrook near Mansfield, and general manager Sean Stevenson said the firm’s expertise in insulation matched the Government’s criteria exactly – particularly the company’s ability to insulate homes WITHOUT any wall cavities.

Sean said: “This is a bold step by the Government and we look forward to working in partnership with housing agencies. The Community Energy Savings Programme goes hand in hand with Westville’s ethos of caring for the local community and the environment.”

He added: “In the past much has been made of cavity wall insulation and its benefits and there is no doubt that it leads to great savings - up to 30 per cent on every heating bill. It’s obvious when you realise an un-insulated house loses 35 per cent of heat through the walls.

“Around half of all UK housing stock does not have cavities in the walls, but that no longer means these homes cannot be insulated. We offer solid wall insulation which achieves fantastic results and fits exactly the Government’s Community Energy Savings Programme criteria of conserving energy, with the added benefit to residents of slashing fuel bills.

“We are currently in negotiation with local authorities in Nottinghamshire to see if we can provide solid wall insulation for their housing stock, as well as dealing with individual property owners and housing management firms. Because of the environmental benefits there is potential for grant aid from the Government which is something which can be explored.”

Solid wall insulation covers the outside of a property with a maintenance-free weatherproof protective textured wall coating – visual and protective transformation as well as being energy efficient. The system uses micro porous resins, allowing walls to breathe and preventing damp. It can cover all unsightly building materials such as poor brickwork, old render, cracked pebbledash and flaking paint.
